TLT has been ranked in ten practice areas in Scotland by the 2024 edition of the Legal 500 – a prestigious, independent guide to the legal sector.

The firm was recommended for its expertise in a broad range of areas, demonstrating the scale of TLT’s offering in Scotland. As well as being newly ranked in immigration, the firm was also recognised in banking and finance, commercial property, corporate and commercial, debt recovery, employment, energy, insolvency and corporate recovery, licensing and professional negligence.

TLT grew its ranking in Scotland for commercial and corporate, having advised on a number of high-profile matters and welcomed a number of lateral hires in this practice area in the last twelve months.

Four TLT lawyers in Scotland are individually ranked, including John Paul Sheridan, Caroline Loudon, Stephen McGowan and Ainslie Benzie who climbed the rankings from ‘Rising Star’ to ‘Next Generation Partner’.

John Paul Sheridan, partner and head of location in Scotland said: “It’s been a brilliant year for TLT in Scotland. As well as having worked on some of the most significant deals in the UK, we have also invested in our people and made a number of lateral hires in the last twelve months further strengthening the services we offer our clients. The Legal 500 rankings are, in part, based on client feedback so it’s great to see our commitment to our clients recognised once again.”

TLT revealed another year of strong financial growth in 2023, with revenue up by 9% exceeding £157m up from £144m in 2021/2022. It has also made a number of strategic lateral hires in the last twelve months to build scale in specialist sectors, which include future energy; digital; financial services; leisure, food & drink; government and public services; real estate; and retail & consumer goods.

The announcement follows TLT’s recent win at the Legal Business Awards where the firm was crowned Law Firm of the Year. This marks the third year in a row the firm has taken away this accolade in industry awards – having been previously named Law Firm of the Year at the Lawyer Awards in 2021 and the British Legal Awards in 2022. The firm and five of its top lawyers have also been recognised in the newly launched The Legal 500 Scotland Awards, demonstrating the first-in-class service delivered by TLT in Scotland.

Legal 500 UK is an annual guide to the UK legal sector and used by buyers of legal services. It ranks law firms and lawyers across legal specialisms and geographic regions, identifying the most highly respected legal professionals in their areas of expertise.
