In a strategic move to strengthen its leadership, NWG has announced significant changes to its Board of Directors. Lena Wilson, currently serving as an independent non-executive director, will step into the role of Senior Independent Director starting April 1, 2025. Additionally, Gill Whitehead has been appointed as an independent non-executive director, effective January 8, 2025.
Rick Haythornthwaite, Chair of NWG, expressed his gratitude to outgoing director Mark Seligman for his substantial contributions since joining the board in April 2017. “Mark has dedicated significant time to NatWest and has been a highly valued director and colleague,” Haythornthwaite stated. “We will miss his wise counsel and contributions around the Board table. He leaves with our very best wishes for the future.”
Lena Wilson brings a wealth of experience to her new role as Senior Independent Director. Haythornthwaite praised her leadership skills and her reputation among fellow directors, expressing confidence in her ability to contribute significantly to the board’s efforts. In addition to her new responsibilities, Wilson will continue to chair the Group Performance & Remuneration Committee.
The appointment of Gill Whitehead is seen as a strategic enhancement to the board’s expertise in data science and analytics. Her background in emerging customer-focused technologies, global technology regulation, and digital transformation aligns with NWG’s strategic priorities. “Gill’s deep expertise will be a strong addition to the Board,” Haythornthwaite noted.
These appointments reflect NWG’s ongoing commitment to strengthening its governance and adapting to the evolving technological landscape.
