John Noble CBE brings cyber security expertise to Sleepstation

John Noble CBE

GLOBALLY renowned digital sleep clinic Sleepstation has welcomed John Noble CBE to its board as a Non-Executive Director. He brings with him over 40 years’ experience in information and cyber security, strategic business change and operational delivery. His new position is in addition to other non-executive and advisory roles including overseeing cyber security for the NHS England board, having led on information and cyber security at NHS Digital before the two merged earlier this year.

His appointment comes alongside those of Sam Watkinson, an Investment Director with almost 30 years in private equity, and Kevin Paul, founder and CEO of Muir Innovation, demonstrating the company’s growth ambitions for the years ahead. They add to an already strong advisory team that includes sleep expert Dr Neil Stanley, and Dr Karen Marshall, Sleepstation’s head of CBT.

‘I really believe in what Sleepstation is seeking to address,’ says John. ‘I think people are now realising the importance of sleep for our general health. They are making that link between ill health and the inability to sleep properly.’

It’s not only Sleepstation’s mission that drew John to the position, but also how highly they prioritise protecting patient and client data at all levels.

‘I’ve been really impressed with their quality of thinking and that it’s run by people who really understand technology. It’s very, very reassuring. It’s also very different from what I’ve done before and I find that really exciting.’

John’s expertise in cyber security and information governance and his experience working in high-profile governmental and private positions will be a real asset to the company and its long-term vision, and he’s keen to support the company’s worldwide growth.

‘I think it’s really important to have a critical friend, who’ll test the assumptions being made. You have to find the right balance between security, usability and cost. I’ll be able to help the senior management team decide where that is.’

Sleepstation recognise their ability to offer personalised care with a human touch is what sets them apart as a global leader in their field. It’s this element, backed by their technological acumen, that John is excited by.

‘I think the jobs that I’ve enjoyed the most have been about helping people and it feels to me that that’s what Sleepstation is about.’
