Linlithgow-headquartered Calnex Solutions has announced an expansion of its partnership with VIAVI Solutions. The two companies will offer a combined set of network test products aimed at the AI, data centre, defence, satellite communications and enterprise markets.

Calnex, which is listed on the London Stock Exchange (LSE:CLX), said the arrangement combines its network emulation products, SNE, SNE-X and SNE-Ignite, with VIAVI’s ONE LabPro, TestCenter and CyberFlood. The companies said the joint offering covers traffic generation, user emulation and network impairment technologies within a combined test architecture.

They said the combined offering is intended to let engineers generate application and user traffic, recreate real-world network conditions and measure the effect on network and application performance before deployment.

Graeme Urquhart, VP Sales at Calnex Solutions, said: “Networks continue to evolve, and as technologies advance, so too does the complexity and diversity of the topologies supported by the infrastructure. This growing complexity places greater demands on pre-deployment testing, yet many validation environments still fail to mirror real-world network conditions, increasing the risk of performance issues after launch.”

Mark Bateman, Vice President, Sales and Channel, Lab and Production at VIAVI, said the companies were “helping customers move beyond lab simulations to confidently validate how applications, services and networks will perform in production environments”.

The expansion builds on an existing collaboration between the two companies on testing Open RAN products across protocol, signal and timing domains. That work uses VIAVI’s TM500, TeraVM and XEdge platforms alongside Calnex’s Paragon-neo, SNE-Ignite and SNE-X.

Calnex was founded in 2006 and is headquartered in Linlithgow. It also has locations in Belfast, Stevenage and California, with sales teams in China and India. The company says its customers include BT, China Mobile, NTT, Ericsson, Nokia, Intel, Qualcomm, IBM and Meta.

The announcement gave no financial terms or launch dates, and did not name any customers for the expanded offering.
