Downhole sensing technology specialist, Well-SENSE, continues to implement its robust growth strategy by announcing the opening of two new facilities in addition to four key appointments.

Earlier this year, the Aberdeen headquartered company publicised the launch of its US based subsidiary, Well-SENSE Inc., created to support the growing demand for its uniquely disposable fiber optic downhole sensing technology. The company has subsequently opened commercial premises and announced the appointment of Operations Specialist, Ariel Marin. Following a total of nine years with Weatherford and Caterpillar, Ariel will bring significant engineering experience to the role, as delivery of Well-SENSE’s innovative FiberLine Intervention technology (FLI) increases within the region.

In the UK, Well-SENSE’s expansion strategy has included the launch of a Hampshire based manufacturing facility, to be headed up by newly appointed Operations Manager, Mark Burton, who will have responsibility for supply chain management, product delivery and commercial support. Mark has accumulated over 15 years’ wireline technology expertise in a number of roles, including Product Champion – Well Integrity for GE Oil & Gas Sondex Wireline, and latterly, Technical Collaboration Manager, Baker Hughes.

Well-SENSE’s Houston and Hampshire bases will support the Aberdeen R&D facility, as it continues to develop the award-winning FLI technology system, which has already received international recognition as an innovation that provides an entirely new approach to well intelligence.  Capturing high quality, real-time, distributed and single point data, it represents a fast, low-cost, low-risk alternative to wireline logging.

Reflecting a commitment to continuous improvement, the past 12 months have seen Well-SENSE invest in its technology development team, via the appointments of Kevin Rose and Douglas Hitchcock – Applications and Design Engineers, respectively. Douglas joined the company upon completion of a Masters in Mechanical Engineering, whilst Kevin joins following eight years’ mechanical design experience with Baker Hughes.

Well-SENSE CEO, Craig Feherty, comments: “In August, Well-SENSE announced the support of strategic investors, Saudi Aramco Energy Ventures, alongside our current owners, FrontRow Energy Technology Group and management.

“At the time, I confirmed that this investment would help accelerate the global expansion of Well-SENSE, allowing us to invest in the people and the infrastructure required to support the commercialisation of FLI; I believe these latest developments are a strong demonstration of the company’s desire to achieve that objective.

“Each appointment comprises the knowledge, skills, experience and geography to allow us to service an ever-increasing marketplace, as we work to expand FLI’s capabilities and maximise the global opportunities for our technology.”

Well-SENSE, alongside ClearWELL, Well-Centric, and Pragma Well Technology, is part of the Aberdeen based FrontRow Energy Technology Group.
