Hymans Robertson has partnered with Heka Global to use global public records and open-web information to help pension schemes trace members whose contact details are no longer current.
Work will begin with two UK pension schemes, with the expectation that the service will extend to other schemes. The partnership adds to the consultancy’s existing data quality, tracing and member engagement capabilities.
Heka’s approach combines traditional data sources with current digital information from the open web. It checks information across multiple sources to identify and verify contact details, life status and next-of-kin information.
The technology is intended to address gaps that can emerge in pension records built up over decades as members move home, change names or relocate overseas. Heka says conventional tracing sources, including electoral registers, credit-reference data, property records and mortality data, can offer limited visibility when people leave the UK or have little recent presence in UK datasets.
Rather than replacing those sources, its service supplements them with global records, identity consistency checks and cross-source validation. The resulting information is intended to help schemes establish a more current picture of their membership and decide what action to take.

Heka says it has delivered projects for more than 40 UK pension schemes. Its data is hosted in Ireland, and it does not contact scheme members directly.
