EDINBURGH-based Thankbox, which is revolutionising the card and gifting industry by providing a sustainable replacement to paper card and plastic vouchers, celebrates its third anniversary by partnering with one of the UK’s leading online florists, Bloom & Wild.
Thankbox was founded by Valentin and Tsvetelina Hinov in May 2020 and they’ve self-funded it to date. When COVID first hit the founders, combining their knowledge and experience in technology, finance and business development, identified a gap in the market for an alternative way to celebrate special occasions as a group.
“Neither of us ever enjoyed the hassle and waste of plastic-wrapped cards and the brown envelope collection for office occasions. Once lockdowns hit and everyone started working remotely it gave us a push to prioritise this project”, comments Valentin Hinov. With the help of their network of professionals and lots of evening and weekend dedication, Thankbox was quickly released and saw a sale in the first hour after going live.
Recently the company reached its 100,000th card sold, more than £5 million of gift card value issued and 10,000 trees planted as part of their sustainability pledge.
2023 sees Thankbox entering into partnership with various companies such as Perkbox (employee benefits platform) and more recently, Bloom & Wild. This collaboration is a first of its kind in the country. It brings together the best of both worlds – allowing users to seamlessly combine heartfelt messages and hundreds of gift options with stunning floral arrangements – all through a single platform.
Tsvetelina Hinov shares “We are a customer-focused business and after talking with our users, it became clear that flower delivery should be the next step for Thankbox. By integrating Bloom & Wild’s offerings into the Thankbox ecosystem, customers can now effortlessly add the beauty of flowers to their collective gestures of appreciation and celebration. Whether it’s a colleague’s birthday, a farewell party, or any other occasion, Thankbox users can now commemorate their occasions by adding a beautiful bouquet hand-delivered to the recipient.”
