BLACKADDERS LLP has bolstered its Business Services Team in Glasgow with the appointment of John Elder as a Commercial Property Partner.
John has joined the firm from Shepherd and Wedderburn and has more than 25 years’ experience in commercial real estate. He specialises in cross-border transactions, finance and the healthcare sector, including advising care home operators and healthcare property developers and investors.
John said: “There is a real drive and ambition within the team to grow Blackadders and I’m looking forward to playing a part in that by developing the Glasgow office offering. I am delighted to be joining Blackadders at this exciting time in the firm’s growth and development.”
As well developing a specialist career, John completed an MBA at Edinburgh University Business School in 2007. He is the latest in a series of high-profile appointments by Blackadders as the firm continues with its strategy of aiming to become a top-five Scottish firm in the next few years.

The Commercial Real Estate Team at Blackadders operates across the Firm’s offices in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Dundee and Aberdeen. Services offered by the Team include property sales and purchases, guidance on leasing and investments and bespoke solutions for renewable energy projects and developments. The Team can also help with strategic insights into developments and financing, as well as dealing with property disputes.
Blackadders recently unveiled a bold new branding. The black and yellow colours traditionally associated with the firm have been replaced by a fresh aqua and purple colour palette as well as a simpler typeface. The philosophy behind the new brand is to help Blackadders to break down some of the complexities associated with law firms and to present itself, both visually and verbally, as a modern, national, transparent and human law firm.
