Integrated manufacturing solution provider to the oil and gas industry, GA Scotland, has won a raft of new business for its Dundee operation since the turn of the year.

The business, part of the private-equity backed Pryme Group, has also bolstered its senior team with the appointment of a new managing director, Eddie Young.

With more than 35 years’ industry experience, Eddie has taken on the key strategic role to drive continued growth both in Tayside and further afield across multiple industry sectors.

Having held senior management positions in the oil and gas, aerospace and precision engineering sectors, Eddie has worked across the UK and internationally and brings expertise in developing a specialist machining division. He was most recently area sales manager for machine tools specialist NCMT.

Angus Gray, CEO at Pryme Group, added: “We are thrilled to welcome Eddie on board and have no doubts that, with his level of expertise and track-record to date, he will be able to successfully build upon the solid foundations already in place at GA Scotland.”

Since Eddie assumed the role of managing director, GA Scotland has secured new contracts worth more than £1.2million to provide machine and coated parts to oil and gas clients in the drilling, downhole and subsea sectors.

Eddie commented: “I’m extremely pleased to have joined such a forward-thinking company in GA Scotland and look forward to working with the team here to achieve our ambitious growth objectives. It is an exciting time for the business and, indeed, the wider Pryme Group.

“During the past few months, we have successfully implemented several new processes and systems to help drive operational efficiencies which, combined with a steadily growing order book, will ultimately leave us in a stronger position.”

GA Scotland, which currently employs 50 people, recorded turnover of £3.8million for its March 2018 year-end. The business is targeting turnover of £5million by 2019 and aims to recruit additional people to help meet this objective.

With headquarters in Dundee, Pryme Group offers a one-stop, turnkey service for global contract manufacturing, combining high-quality machining with design capability, project management, hydraulic services, fabrication skills, assembly and testing.

In January, the business announced the creation of a new engineering services division and purpose-built facility in the north-east of England that is expected to provide an added boost for the company’s Dundee operation; enabling staff to bring their expertise to new markets such as aerospace and defence.
