Glasgow workwear firm expands with bank funding to meet customer demand

Suresafe Protection, a supplier of branded workwear, personal protective equipment (PPE), and janitorial supplies, has expanded its premises in Cumbernauld, Glasgow in response to increasing customer demand.

The procurement of the unit next to its existing location at Lenzimill Industrial Estate was made possible thanks to a loan of £315,000 from HSBC. It sees Suresafe increase its space by almost 200% with the new 37,000 square feet building adding to its existing 19,000 square feet building and yard.

Suresafe, which has clients across the UK including QTS Group, Farmfoods and Menzies Distribution, has seen a rise in turnover of up to 40% in the past year. This meant a larger central warehouse was needed to increase production and continue the business’ development.

Suresafe Managing Director Trevor Lang expects new jobs to be created later this year as a result of the expansion. He said: “The support HSBC has provided the business over the past eight years has been fantastic. We simply couldn’t grow the business without the bank’s backing. Facilitating the purchase of the building next to our current location was the ideal next step in our development.  We’re grateful to HSBC for supporting this move.”

Susan Rowand, Head of Business Banking for HSBC in Scotland, said: “As leaders in their field, Suresafe needed bigger premises to help the business continue to grow and meet rising customer demand. Trevor and his team have clear plans for expansion and we were thrilled to help support the next step in the business’s progression.”
