Hiyacar, the UK’s leading keyless car sharing platform that’s driving the public sector towards a lower cost and sustainable future, has appointed George Webb, former Executive Director at RAC Plc, as its new Executive Chair.

Webb’s extensive experience in fleet management, technology, and leadership arrives at a critical time of growth and innovation for the company. With the UK government intensifying its focus on reducing carbon emissions by 68%* by 2030, and promoting shared mobility solutions, Webb’s expertise will be vital in driving the company forward. This includes the company’s public sector pool fleet management, expanding its London car club and its Peer-to-Peer vehicle sharing enterprise.

Webb began his career as a software entrepreneur and founded the fleet management software company Tranman. He exited the business at a significant multiple, three years after leading an MBO.

Webb joined RAC where he quickly distinguished himself as one of the company’s brightest talents leading to a role as Chief Executive of its Defence business. During his tenure, he secured £1.6 billion in vehicle leasing contracts with the Ministry of Defence. He later oversaw the operational and financial performance of both the UK White Fleet contract and the C Vehicle PFI.

George Webb, Executive Chair at Hiyacar, comments, “I am thrilled to be appointed as Executive Chair of Hiyacar. I have transformed the fortunes of technology businesses of various scales and look forward to driving Hiyacar’s success and cutting-edge technology forward. Together with the talented Hiyacar team I am going to make a significant impact in the car sharing industry. Additionally, I am committed to advancing our sustainability goals working with the market to achieve its Net Zero targets”.

The UK-based platform which supports a 100+ plus car clubs in London also enables the public sector to shift grey miles—travelled in employees’ personal vehicles—to an efficient, green pool fleet, cutting costs on mileage payments, taxi fares, and daily rentals.

The keyless service allows colleagues to unlock and start cars using a smartphone app, eliminating the need for in-person key exchanges. This convenience enhances the efficient use of existing vehicles, increasing utilisation, reducing costs  and lowering emissions.
