SCOTLAND’S largest online and offline community platform for women, egg, has whisked up a fantastic new co-working hub and events space for female entrepreneurs in a prime Edinburgh location.

Edinburgh Wellbeing Festival, gift specialists Curiouser & Curiouser and Amy Kelly Marketing have already joined Head Egg Kylie Reid and her six-strong team in the freshly refurbished two-storey premises on Union Street in central Edinburgh, now the head office of Santu  Coffee

Independent coffee roasters Santu, founded by husband-and-wife team Washington & Erin, have lovingly restored the former site of Edinburgh Printmakers, making Union Street their wholesale hub, running alongside their café on the Canongate.

Established following the success of egg & co’s first pop-up at George Street, egg’s first stand-alone co-working space will offer female entrepreneurs a mix of open plan co-working space, private offices and the use of a dedicated podcast studio, where the ‘egg talks to’ podcast episodes will now be recorded and filmed. Additionally, residents can take advantage of coaching, talks and skill-sharing from fellow residents and guests.

Founded as a private Facebook group by entrepreneur Kylie Reid, egg now boasts c,100,000 members across Scotland, with a loyal and engaged network of 40,000women in Edinburgh alone. The company has just launched their revamped platform, one that supports their ambition to scale throughout the UK. The first of its kind, the site helps women find, and book, trusted recommendations, with a discount.

Kylie said: “This incredible new space on Union Street is properly a dream come true for egg & co – the chance to bring together female entrepreneurs from across the business community in Edinburgh in a welcoming, supportive and congenial space that’s been specifically designed to inspire collaboration.

“Our team have been based here for six weeks and we’re absolutely loving it – we’re a stone’s through from oodles of brilliant boutiques, eateries and bars and the building’s perfectly placed for transport links with Waverley Station, the Edinburgh Bus Station and, of course, the new tram line to Leith and Newhaven all on our doorstep. If you’re interested in finding out more, feel free to pop along for a tour or drop us a line at info@weareegg.co.uk.”

Scottish creative studio Studio Something has worked with egg to create a positive working environment which inspires friendly collaboration between entrepreneurs, many of whom will have been working predominantly from home for some time.

Meanwhile, Kylie has commissioned murals by local artist Chiara Celini to adorn the two-level space, which can accommodate 30 female co-workers renting desk spaces or private office space on a short or long-term basis.

Egg has recently forged new strategic partnerships with Gilson Gray LLP the full-service law firm who will offer specialist legal, property and financial services and FreeAgent Accounting Software, offering discounts for egg members.

Vanessa Kennedy, Marketing Director at Gilson Gray LLP, said: “We are delighted to be in partnership with egg. At the heart of our approach is a strong sense of togetherness. We believe in building connections with communities like egg and working together with their members to understand their needs and aspirations.

“Our team bring a collaborative spirit to deliver the best experience for our clients. Whether you need legal, property or financial advice we are here to help.”
