Equator grows leadership team with London-based BD director

Glasgow-based creative agency, Equator, has appointed Richard Carroll as its Business Development Director in London.
Based in Equator’s Shoreditch office, Richard will be responsible for growing Equator’s impressive list of financial clients which include AXA Insurance, Lloyds Banking Group and Clydesdale Banking Group.
This is the second appointment to the business development team in the last month, following the addition of executive Stewart McTaggart. The Equator Group is boosting its business development team to support expansion plans for its companies which also include Equator PR and 999 Design.
Originally from Dundee, Richard has had a varied career – he started out as a football player for Dundee FC, then trained as a lawyer before turning his attention to business development. He now has more than seven years’ experience helping businesses grow their client base.
Joining Equator from global media agency MediaCom where he was Associate Director of new business, Richard also previously held the role of Business Development Director at marketing agency House of Kaizen.
He said: “It’s been quite a transition from playing football to becoming a business development director but one thing that both jobs have in common is the mix of skills involved – and teamwork is key.
“I’m excited to be playing a major role in the growth of Equator’s presence in London and leading the business development team in further building the firm’s already impressive list of clients. I feel my experience holding leadership positions in major agencies and working with a diverse range of global companies means I have the right skills to help boost Equator’s presence both across the UK and internationally. ”
Set to manage the business development team on a day to day basis, Richard will work alongside Garry Hamilton, Group Business Development Director and co-owner of Equator.
Garry added: “Since Equator began in 1999, we’ve grown from a Glasgow start-up to one of the UK’s leading digital agencies and now we’re setting our sights even further. Richard’s unique skillset and experience will play a significant role in helping us take our business growth to the next level.”
