BUSINESS Women Scotland (BWS) has today announced their search for the top 100 female business owners in celebration of female entrepreneurship in Scotland.
Following on from the latest Rose Review, which looks at female entrepreneurship across the UK, the report showed more women than ever are starting new businesses. Data from the report also showed that last year – and for the first time ever – women have started businesses at a faster rate than men.
From a list of 100 top tier businesswomen, which will be decided by a panel of business industry experts from across Scotland, 10 female entrepreneurs will be selected for further support, including mentoring and expert tuition on selling a company, or help with funding for one outstanding business. However, just one business will be crowned the overall winner.
Lynne Kennedy MBE, founder of Business Women Scotland said: “We want to showcase some of the most enterprising and successful women from around Scotland: women who’ve had the courage to follow their dreams, whether that be starting their own business, making it to the top in their career, or using their expertise and knowledge to help other women be the best they can be.”
She continued: “We have always wanted to shine a light on the great work women are doing across Scotland while being role models for the next generation. This latest Rose Report means more financial institutions committing to delivering change and funding. We also need more direct support for businesses across the UK, and we must continue to look at the challenges posed by women’s caring responsibilities. I encourage everyone to enter whether they have been trading for one year or five and wish everyone entering the very best of luck.”
To apply, businesswomen can be nominated or apply themselves via the only entry form. BWS will be hosting a celebration on the 17th November 2023 to celebrate the winners.
