Firm promotes 94 people across Scotland as part of wider UK round of 2,200 promotions

Accountancy and business advisory firm BDO LLP has announced the promotion of three people to partner in Scotland. Claire Robertson has been appointed as a Consulting, Risk & Outsourcing Partner, Ally Rolland as a Business Restructuring Partner, and Craig Goold as a Deals Partner. Overall, BDO has promoted 94 people across Scotland, including 46 in its Glasgow office and 48 in Edinburgh.

Claire, who joined BDO in 2013, leads the firm’s Risk Advisory Services team in Scotland, working across a range of sectors with particular expertise in Government and Infrastructure. Over the past 20 years, she has been helping public sector clients navigate change and gain assurance and advice around their key risk areas.

Ally specialises in turnaround and restructuring and has almost 20 years’ experience helping businesses, lenders and stakeholders navigate periods of uncertainty, stress and financial challenge.

Craig leads the M&A team in Scotland, advising business owners, founders and management teams on the corporate finance options available to them. He started his career in 2009 and works with entrepreneurs in Scotland across a range of sectors.

In total, BDO has promoted over 2,200 people across its UK offices, including 29 newly promoted partners across its Audit, Tax, Consulting, Risk & Outsourcing and Deals business areas, effective from 1 November 2026. Of the national cohort of newly promoted partners, almost a third are based outside of London, and 35% are female, supporting BDO’s commitment to achieving a 30% female partnership by the end of 2030 as a signatory of HM Treasury’s Women in Finance Charter.

The firm said the promotions follow a year of significant investment in its people. BDO expanded its social mobility and citizenship programmes and partnerships, reaching more than 8,200 young people through work experience, insight events and virtual career initiatives. The firm also welcomed 525 new trainees in September, a mix of school leaver apprentices, graduates and industrial placements, with more than one in four of BDO’s people now undertaking a graduate, apprenticeship or industrial placement programme.

Mark McCluskey, Regional Managing Partner at BDO in Scotland, commented: “We are a people-powered business, with a strong commitment to attracting, developing, engaging and retaining talented individuals, by giving them the opportunity to learn, grow and unlock their potential.”

He added: “As we continue to grow as a firm and in Scotland, we remain committed to helping people succeed within an inclusive and supportive environment. The latest round of promotions reflects that focus, and I want to congratulate each and every individual on their achievements this year.”
