Legal firm and estate agency Watermans has opened its fifth office in Bonnyrigg, extending its presence in Midlothian. The renovated premises on the town’s high street mark its second expansion this year, following the opening of a Dunfermline office in March.
Property specialist Neil Reid is joining the firm as a consultant valuer as part of the move. Reid has lived in Bonnyrigg for more than three decades and worked in the local property sector for 15 years.
Scott Whyte, managing director at Watermans, said: “Opening our fifth Watermans office in Bonnyrigg is part of our long-term plans for the business and allows us to provide a base closer to home for both current and future clients in Midlothian.”
Whyte said the office would also allow some employees to work closer to home. He described improving the team’s work-life balance as something the firm had been keen to deliver.
Shawn Wood, director and head of conveyancing, will oversee the legal side of property transactions handled from the office. He said the new base would make services more accessible to people and businesses across Midlothian, allowing clients to deal with a local team rather than travel elsewhere for advice.

Wood said: “We already have a strong client base in the area, so having a permanent presence in Bonnyrigg is a natural next step for us. It means we can offer the same range of legal services and level of service that clients have come to expect from Watermans, but now right on their doorstep.”
Reid said he had previously dealt with Watermans on legal and property transactions during his career. He described joining the firm as the next step in that relationship and said the wider team behind the Bonnyrigg office were local to the area.
