Commsworld’s decision to appoint its first Chief Revenue Officer comes with an explicit target to more than double turnover again over the next five years, building on five years of growth from 20 million pounds to 40 million pounds. Edinburgh‑headquartered and billed as one of the UK’s largest independent network providers, the company is using the new role to anchor a UK‑wide growth roadmap built around geographical, proposition and partnership expansion.

Melony Buchanan steps into the new CRO post with a brief to lead Commsworld’s revenue strategy across that roadmap. The company says the role spans sector‑specific proposition development and deeper work with partners as it pushes further across the UK market. Buchanan joins from Capita, where she previously held senior roles including client partnerships in local and regional government and responsibility linked to the Scottish Wide Area Network, experience that Commsworld positions as directly relevant to its own public‑sector and enterprise base.

In its announcement, Commsworld frames the hire as a strengthening of a leadership team that has already delivered a first phase of growth. Chief executive Steve Langmead points to the company doubling turnover over the last five years, from 20 million pounds to 40 million pounds, citing long‑term public‑sector contracts as a major driver. He sets out an ambition to “more than double that again” over the next five years, using the CRO role to coordinate revenue‑generating activities around that target.

Buchanan describes joining Commsworld as arriving at a pivotal moment in the company’s evolution and highlights the way the business has secured major contracts and delivered value for customers in recent years. She casts the role as an opportunity to connect people and organisations to the outcomes that matter through a network provider that is expanding both in scale and in the communities it serves across the UK. That framing links the new appointment to Commsworld’s existing presence in public‑sector connectivity, enterprise services and regional infrastructure.

For High Growth Scotland readers, the interest in this story lies less in the job title and more in the signal it sends about growth intent from a Scottish‑headquartered network provider. A formal CRO role, a specific target to more than double turnover again, and a public emphasis on UK‑wide expansion all indicate that Commsworld is planning a second phase of scale‑up from its Edinburgh base, with leadership and revenue strategy reorganised to match.
