A fast-growing Edinburgh IT firm has hit a revenue milestone following a series of contract wins.

In the year to May 31, 2018, Opal recorded annual revenues of £2.2m after sealing contracts with several companies in the creative, education, and financial services sectors, including Tesco Bank, SaleCycle and Merchiston Castle School in Edinburgh.
In addition, Opal recently sealed a deal to create a comprehensive virtual IT solution for national architecture firm BMJ Architects. The work involved replacing aging kit with a sophisticated disaster recovery solution. Creating additional data storage capacity across both sites allows BMJ’s 80-strong workforce to work on huge architectural projects seamlessly with clients and between offices, utilising both high speed local storage and secure cloud applications and storage.
Opal also overhauled the IT infrastructure at YRG, which provides reprographics services to some of the biggest companies in the world including Proctor & Gamble, Nestle, Quorn and TetraPak. Opal replaced their entire network and virtual server environment with additional capacity, delivering an IT solution that allows the firm to operate its ESKO workflow software much more efficiently, increasing productivity significantly across multiple sites UK and in Ireland.
Andy Metcalfe, managing director of Opal, said: “We’re delighted to go past the £2m turnover mark. We have ambitious growth targets and want to build on the significant recent success. By restructuring the company recently and adding additional staff we have put ourselves in a great position to be able to give existing and new clients the solutions and support they require.
“We’ve won contracts because we have a deep understanding of our customers’ business needs and the challenges they face in their respective sectors. We are well placed for further growth in the future and have some exciting opportunities on the horizon.”
Opal provides a wide variety of technology services and specialises in the delivering IT solutions regardless of client’s environment and device type.
