Vision Scotland, Scotland’s leading eye care provider, announced today a £5M pound investment into a new state of the art clinic in Glasgow and the appointment of industry expert Paul Clark as its new Chief Executive Officer. This strategic move marks a significant milestone in the company’s growth and commitment to providing exceptional eye care services across Scotland.

The new Glasgow clinic will offer a high-quality service that have become synonymous with Vision Scotland as a trusted name in eye care, including:

            •          Cataract & Glaucoma surgery

            •          Laser eye surgery

            •          Lens replacement surgery

The investment will also see the use of cutting edge laser surgery systems such as first in Scotland – Schwind Amaris Laser, which is a cutting-edge piece of technology because of its advanced features and precision in performing eye surgeries. The laser uses a sophisticated tracking system that follows eye movements in real-time, ensuring accurate and precise treatment. Additionally, the Schwind Amaris laser offers customisable treatment options, allowing for completely personalised and optimised treatment and results for each patient.

Unlike traditional laser eye surgery, Lenticular extraction, also known as SMILE is a newer and more advanced form of laser eye surgery that offers several benefits compared to traditional LASIK surgery offered by most competitors. One of the main advantages of lenticular extraction is that it requires a smaller incision, resulting in less disruption to the cornea and potentially faster healing times.

Alongside this expansion, Vision Scotland has appointed Paul Clark as its new Chief Executive Officer. With his extensive experience in healthcare management within NHS, BMI Healthcare and Aces he has a stellar track record of driving performance and service delivery and is well-positioned to lead Vision Scotland into its next phase of growth.

Paul Clark stated, “I am honoured to join Vision Scotland at this exciting time of expansion. Our new Glasgow facility will allow us to bring our expertise in eye care to even more patients across Scotland.’

Sanjay Mantry, Co-Founder of Vision Scotland said ‘Vision Scotland has seen a 50% growth in staff over the last 12 months and as part of our overall strategic business plan we are building a leadership team who share myself and Co-Founder Dr Jonathan Ross appetite for business growth and service excellence. We wished to recruit a CEO who had a wealth of skill but who was also a dynamic leader. Paul has worked extensively in healthcare for many years and we were impressed by his experience and enthusiasm for the future of the company and the values we all share. I am very much looking forward to working with Paul to continue the journey of Vision Scotland.’

Vision Scotland have doubled their headcount across the business in 2024, and employing 30 new staff in the Glasgow clinic.

Vision Scotland’s expansion and new leadership comes at a time of increasing demand for high-quality eye care services. The company has already helped restore vision to over 30,000 patients, with a significant percentage rating their experience online as ‘exceeded expectations’.

As Vision Scotland continues to grow they remain dedicated to their core values of excellence, innovation, and patient-centred care. The company looks forward to serving the Glasgow community and contributing to the overall eye health of Scotland’s population via their existing clinics in Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Galashiels & Stirling.
