VCL Vintners poach head of casks from Grant’s

VCL Vintners, London’s leading whisky cask broker among millennial investors, today announces the appointment of Charlie McClure as Head of Logistics and Cask Management. Charlie joins with five years’ experience at William Grant & Sons, which included cask management and materials management, and over 24 years’ experience as a Logistics Consultant in the British Army. His appointment at VCL Vintners comes at a time when the company is strengthening its logistics and cask efficiency to meet the growing global demand for whisky cask investment.

Charlie’s career includes four decades in the British Army, where he reached the rank of Warrant Officer Class One and achieved the appointment of Conductor, in the Royal Logistics Corps after a successful tour in Afghanistan. During his time in the army, Charlie’s roles included ensuring the operational capability of over 100,000 personnel across 800 global locations, successfully equipping over 7,500 military personnel for overseas operations and reducing army supply chain wastage by over £400,000. 

Charlie’s career path in whisky began while working with the renowned family-owned Scottish whisky distillery, William Grant & Sons. He worked on restructuring the materials management team and created food packaging sustainability reports, championing sustainability throughout his work at the distillery. Charlie completed an MA in Logistics, Materials and Supply Chain Management at the University of Hull while working at the distillery. 

Charlie will bring his sustainability and logistics acumen to VCL Vintners and continue to deliver greater efficiency to its warehoused goods and transportation processes. In addition, Charlie’s knowledge of luxury sustainable spirits packaging will boost VCL Vintner’s material efficiency while reducing its carbon footprint to further serve its investors’ interests.
