SCOTTISH greentech innovator Katrick Technologies has won the Start-Up Award at the Barclays Entrepreneur Awards for 2022. The awards celebrate UK entrepreneurs that create social change, drive growth and pioneer innovation. Katrick Technologies was a finalist in both the People’s Choice and the Start-up categories, thanks to its exciting advancements in green technology and renewable energy. The winners were announced on Thursday 19 January at a ceremony held at the Science Museum in London.
Katrick Technologies is a greentech company focused on creating innovative renewable solutions for industries, individuals and businesses. The company focuses on developing new decarbonisation technologies to support the transition to net zero. It holds several patents for its revolutionary designs, including a novel system for generating carbon-free energy from wind that can be used in a huge range of locations.
In 2022 alone, the company received widespread attention for its unique approach to clean energy technology, achieving a place in the PwC Net Zero Future50 along with nominations at the 2022 Energy Awards and the KPMG Tech Innovator of the year. It also joined a consortium with AGS Airports Limited (AGS) and the University of Strathclyde to support the deployment of technology for a faster transition to clean power by exploiting low-level ground effect wind energy. A wind mapping project has also been launched as part of a partnership with Edinburgh airport to identify and harness untapped wind energy on the site.
Katrick Technologies won the Start-Up award sponsored by FreshBooks which highlights new businesses challenging the status quo. The company was also a finalist for the People’s Choice award, the winner of which has been determined by a public vote.
