STAFF at Kingdom Housing Association have raised £1,200 for the Cottage Family Centre Christmas Toy Appeal, helping to make Christmas magical for local families.

The Cottage Family Centre is based in Kirkcaldy, Fife, and supports local children and families who face significant hardship. Last year the Cottage made sure over 1,300 households had food, toiletries, warm homes and presents from Santa.

Staff at Kingdom took part in fundraising raffles and raised £600 which was used to purchase toys for children of all ages. An additional £600 cash donation was made thanks to a £300 grant from Kingdom’s Community Initiatives Fund and all of the winners of Kingdom’s Employee Recognition Scheme agreed to give their charity donation prize to the Cottage Family Centre, a total of £300.

Leigh Shearer, Service Co-ordinator at Kingdom headed up the fundraising efforts and said, “At Kingdom we’ve supported the Cottage Family Centre Christmas Toy Appeal for the last few years. I’m delighted that this year we were able to buy more toys than ever before so that local families can have presents to unwrap on Christmas Day.”

Kingdom’s Head of Governance Calum Kippen, who is responsible for administering the Community Initiatives Fundsaid, “I’m delighted that we’ve been able to use our Community Initiatives Fund to help support the incredible work being done by the Cottage Family Centre. Through the fund we can consider supporting projects that deliver a community benefit in the areas where we operate. We will consider applications from a wide variety of sources including tenants, residents groups, community clubs and voluntary organisations.”

Kingdom Housing Association’s mission is to provide More Than A Home and will support appropriate causes through the Community Initiatives Fund that further their strategic objectives. Eligible applications can be submitted using the form in the Community Initiatives Policy available at www.kingdomhousing.org.uk
