Jumpstart steps up UK expansion with new South East BDM appointments

Edinburgh-headquartered research and development tax relief specialist Jumpstart has further invested in its UK-wide business with the appointment of Business Development Managers David Woods and Simon Mitchell.

The new recruits will focus on growing Jumpstart’s client base across the South East of England, advising companies on how to secure R&D tax credit claims.

David’s remit covers East Anglia, Cambridgeshire and London, advising a range of businesses, primarily those in the IT and manufacturing sectors where he has a strong track record. His previous roles include working with London South Bank University, focusing on Knowledge Transfer Partnerships, IP commercialisation and advising a range of start-up businesses.

Meanwhile Simon joins Jumpstart from the renewable energy sector where he held a number of innovation-focused positions at Serco, Lexis Nexis and, most recently, Compelo, where he was responsible for delivering a series of thought leadership webinars. In his new role he covers London and the wider South East region, focusing mainly on software and technology businesses.

Commenting on the new appointments, Jumpstart’s Managing Director Scott Henderson said: “David and Simon are two highly experienced practitioners with ideal sector experience that will benefit our growing client base across the South East. While the UK Government continues to encourage business innovation through R&D and other tax relief incentives, there is far more HMRC scrutiny over claims. The knowledge and expertise of advisers like David and Simon is becoming increasingly essential for companies wanting to maximise these benefits.”
