ACCOUNTANCY and business advisory firm BDO LLP has appointed a new partner in its Glasgow financial services team as the firm continues to invest in talent in Scotland.

Mick Campbell joins the firm’s financial services team from Atos UK, a worldwide digital leader with 111,000 employees in 69 countries, where he was Risk and Assurance Director in their FCA regulated business.

Speaking of his appointment, Mick said: “BDO has a stellar client list and the firm has built an ambitious yet nurturing culture so it’s fantastic to be joining the team. I’m looking forward to supporting the growth of the financial services advisory offering in Scotland, working with the world-class insurance firms, banks and asset management companies based here.”

Prior to Atos, Mick was a financial services risk management consultant for 19 years and brings valuable experience providing effective risk and compliance oversight arrangements to clients.

Chris Meyrick, financial services partner at BDO, said: “We have ambitious plans for growth in 2023, including continued expansion of our teams based in Edinburgh and Glasgow. I’m delighted to welcome Mick to our financial services team, who has hit the ground running and look forward to working together.”

Last autumn, BDO announced its move to 2 Atlantic Square in Glasgow, where 130 employees will be based as part of the firm’s plans to grow. BDO also remodelled its space in Edinburgh in summer 2022, delivering a new office base designed around flexible and hybrid working.

Martin Gill, head of BDO in Scotland, added: “It’s essential that we have the right people in place to help deliver our own and our clients’ ambitions. Mick’s appointment reiterates our commitment to investing in the best regional talent at every level of our business.”
