Axis Studios doubles space at Skypark

Award-winning animation and visual effects company Axis Studios has added an additional 8,500 sq. ft. to its 8,000 sq. ft. studio space in Skypark, Glasgow.
Founded in 2000, Axis Studios creates content for the biggest names in video games, film, television, commercials and online entertainment. Over the past 18 months, the company has diversified its offering to include feature-length animated movies and TV productions such as Mattel’s Welcome to Monster High and the Channel 4 and Netflix series Kiss Me First.
The company is increasing its staff base from 160 to 200 over the next twelve months after securing Regional Selective Funding. Axis Studios’ growth will take up to 40 new recruits; including designers, artists, animators, writers and producers.
“This is an incredibly exciting time for Axis – all three of our studios in Glasgow, Bristol and London are growing, and the creative opportunities are too,” said Richard Scott, CEO of Axis Studios. “Fiona Hyslop, Cabinet Secretary for Culture, Tourism and External Affairs visited the offices to meet the art teams behind the work we’ve been doing, as we recently secured £250,000 of Regional Selective Assistance funding. This will enable us to enter new international markets, open new creative opportunities and of course grow the team here. Creatively and geographically Skypark is well suited to accommodate our team as we move to the next stage of growth.”
Ken McInnes of JLL joint letting agent at Skypark finished: “We welcome Axis Studios’ expansion in Skypark as one of UK’s leading entertainment companies, it is great news for the City and for the country they have chosen to expand here. Skypark has a wide range of accommodation options from 4,300 sq ft to 15,500 sq ft. to suit a range of occupiers’ needs”.
As part of a continued expansion Axis Studios has established three distinct brands under the banners Axis Animation, axisVFX and Flaunt serving different corners of the entertainment industry.
