We Hae Meat, which has been supplying ALDI with a range of sausage products since 2011, has extended its existing deal with the supermarket by £600,000 per year with the addition of a “skinny” lorne sausage.

The family-owned Scottish butchery business, run by husband and wife team Alex and Carlyn Paton started working with ALDI six years ago with just 15 employees. Today, the team has contracts with ALDI worth £2 million a year and is one of the largest employers in Ayrshire.

We Hae Meat has recently invested in both its premises and staff including a £2million expansion to its facilities in Girvan. It has also supported 11 employees in completing a Modern Apprentice qualification in Meat Management and Butchery Skills.

Carlyn Paton, Co-founder and Director at We Hae Meat, said: “The value of our relationship with ALDI has given us the confidence to invest in more efficient processes and working with ALDI over the years has helped to transform our business.

“The Scottish buying team at ALDI are truly passionate about sourcing the best quality products for their customers and have a well-developed knowledge of the market they operate in. They recognise the value of traditional craft butchery methods and techniques that producers like We Hae Meat can offer.”

Graham Nicolson, Group Buying Director for ALDI in Scotland, said: “The We Hae Meat Scottish success story is an incredible one. ALDI are committed to supporting local suppliers who can guarantee only the best quality Scottish products reach our customers. With a focus to increase our range of Scottish products from 350 to 400 over the next two years, strengthening our relationships with existing suppliers like We Hae Meat only serves to bring us closer to realising that ambition.”
