Scottish gin scaling up production due to demand

A Scottish gin has doubled projected start-up figures and is scaling up production five-fold due to increased market demand.
Porter’s Gin, an award winning, premium gin, was created in Aberdeen and has gone from strength to strength since its launch in December 2015.
Within the last 12 months, the company has seen rapid sales growth, and is now looking to scale up bottling capacity to due to increasing market demands.
The gin was also recently awarded a gold medal at the International Wines and Spirits Competition (IWSC) in the London Dry Gin category.
A huge success of the Porter’s Gin calendar came at London Cocktail Week 2016, where the brand partnered with London-based cocktail bar, Dandelyan which was recently voted the third best cocktail bar in the world, to bring innovative gin cocktails to a pop-up bar in Shoreditch.
Working hard to promote the local Aberdeen product on a global level, Porter’s Gin has already been successfully exported to Malaysia, Singapore and Amsterdam, with many other countries looking to import it by the end of the year.
Ben Iravani, co-owner of Porter’s Gin, said: “The success of Porter’s has been overwhelming and we are delighted to now be exporting our gin to bars across the world.”
“The demand for Scottish gin has increased rapidly, and with European countries now interested in the craft gin market, it’s an exciting time to be exporting.
“There are now more than 200 small-batch gin distilleries in the UK, with distillery openings more than doubling in the past decade showing how popular gin has become.”
As well as exporting globally, the company also has close relationships with several premium distributors in the UK, allowing Porter’s to be accessible across an extensive range of bars, restaurants and independent retailers.
Ben Iravani added: “We were the first gin to launch in Aberdeen in over 100 years, and it’s great to see others follow foot over the past 11 months. With our production line greater than ever, and demand increasing for Christmas sales, our first year in business is looking to end on a very positive note.”
The gin has been featured in prestigious lifestyle magazines including Vogue and Glamour and has also been associated with high profile Scottish fashion designers Christian Macleod, and Saunt and Sinner.
Porter’s is available in all Harvey Nichols UK stores and online, and can also be found in many high quality bottle shops across the UK.
