Scottish Agritourism, the national sector body for agritourism in Scotland, has announced the appointment of Linda Tinson to its Board. The appointment comes as the sector continues to experience growth and gain international recognition, contributing £292.9 million annually to the Scottish economy in 2025.
Linda Tinson, recognised as one of Scotland’s leading agricultural lawyers and farming advisers, brings over 20 years’ experience advising rural businesses, landowners, and farming families across Scotland. A consultant at law firm Lindsays, she is also a graduate of the Scottish Enterprise Rural Leadership Programme and a former Vice President of the Royal Highland and Agricultural Society of Scotland. Her expertise and practical approach are noted for her deep understanding of the sector.
As a board member, Linda Tinson will support Scottish Agritourism in its objective to champion profitable growth for the country’s agritourism businesses.
Linda Tinson commented: “The development and growth of agritourism in Scotland has been a huge boost for, and important evolution of, Scotland’s agricultural and tourism sectors – driving the development of exciting new attractions and experiences for visitors and providing enhanced diversification opportunities and important income streams for farms, crofts and estates.”
She added: “Having been involved with Scotland’s agritourism community since its inception in a legal advisory role, I am delighted to be joining the Board. I look forward to working with colleagues across the sector and contributing to its continued growth, innovation and success.”
The appointment follows the Global Agritourism Conference in Aberdeen, hosted by Scottish Agritourism, which welcomed over 550 agritourism leaders from more than 50 countries, highlighting the sector’s increasing international profile. Scotland’s agricultural community is reportedly embracing agritourism as a key driver of business growth and profitability, complementing farming operations.
In 2025, agritourism attracted 2.5 million visitors to working farms, crofts, and rural estates each year, with several sector growth targets reportedly achieved five years ahead of the 2030 National Strategy targets.
In Case You Missed It:
Caroline Millar, Sector Lead for Scottish Agritourism, stated: “Linda represents our professional members who are a key part of the membership and agritourism sector and she will be able to bring their perspective and views to the board. Linda has been working to support the agritourism movement in Scotland for many years before Scottish Agritourism formed in 2020. She cares deeply about the organisation and brings her extensive network and knowledge to our board. We very much look forward to working with Linda.”
Linda Tinson’s appointment follows the completion of four-year board tenures by Riddell Graham and Fiona Campbell MBE last month.
