Tweed Wealth will “redefine financial planning” as firm enters second decade

04/12/2023

AS TWEED Wealth Management celebrates its first 10 years in business, founders Chris Tweed and Alison Welsh have their sights set on a future of providing a holistic personal service to clients whilst driving innovation.

One of Scotland’s leading financial advice firms is celebrating its 10th anniversary by looking towards the future of the industry.

Tweed Wealth Management – founded in Edinburgh in December 2013, and now with offices across Scotland – has committed to revolutionising the financial advice industry through innovative use of technology, as the firm enters its second decade.

Founder Chris Tweed remarked: “Throughout the past decade, our priority has always been to offer a client focussed approach, prioritising personalised financial planning delivered by highly trained advisers.

“For this reason, we have been committed to our status as a Chartered Firm, and we now look to the future and how we can enhance this personal approach with sophisticated technology that aids us in delivering even more nuanced and comprehensive financial strategies.

“This fusion underscores our commitment to a client-centred approach where every technological advancement is evaluated by how it serves our clients’ interests and supports the team.”

Tweed Wealth Management’s commitment to safeguarding its future – and of the industry as a whole – through technology comes as it looks to continue to invest in and expand the extended Tweed Group.

Beginning as a husband-and-wife team, Tweed Wealth now employs a 30-strong team in Edinburgh and Inverness – with ambitious growth plans for more locations across Scotland and London.

Its sister companies – Tweed Paraplanning & AutoSL, Behavioural Finance, and Tweed Business Advisory – all feed into the Tweed Wealth team’s commitment to providing a full suite of services and tools to individuals and businesspeople looking to take control of their finances.

Founder Alison Welsh said: “The journey Tweed Wealth Management has taken over the last decade has been incredibly exciting. We started from humble beginnings to now managing over £450 million in client assets; we really do see Tweed Wealth as our first child, and we couldn’t be prouder.

“Last year the firm was awarded Chartered financial planning status, highlighting our team’s commitment to always delivering for our clients, and to pushing ourselves to be the very best we can be.”

The firm’s rapid growth and position as one of the country’s leading voices in financial planning have been enabled by a number of strategic acquisitions, beginning with Jamieson Wealth Management and Stevenson Hamilton Wealth Management in 2017. Melville Wealth Management was welcomed into the fold in 2020, with John Home Wealth Management following in 2021 and Macleod & MacCallum Wealth Management in 2022.

Since then, the firm has picked up a string of accolades – including Best Adviser Firm in the UK and Best Support Team at the 2022 International Adviser Best Practice Adviser Awards. Alison was also named Team Leader of the Year at the 2023 Women in Financial Advice Awards. To date, sister company Behavioural Finance has picked up 2 WealthTech 100 awards, as well as bagging major successes in the Lloyds Banking Group Incubator Launch and the Phoenix Group Incubator.

Alison continued: “As we reflect on the last decade and look to the future, we are excited about the next chapter we’re embarking on. We’re committed to continuing to innovate and grow, always with our clients’ best interests at heart.”
