Simple Online Healthcare has made a duo of C-suite appointments to further strengthen patient care at one of the UK’s fastest-growing digital healthcare groups.  Bev Dumbleton brings expertise from a career spanning senior positions at Sykes Holiday Cottages, Gold Medal Travel, and Airmiles (part of British Airways) to the newly created Chief Patient Experience Officer and Executive Leader role at Simple Online, while Abdal Alvi, who began his career in ‘bricks and mortar’ pharmacies, has been promoted from Clinical Director to Chief Clinical Officer after five years with the company.

The appointments come against a backdrop of volatility in global healthcare markets, including the recent wholesale price increases for weight-care medication Mounjaro, with Simple Online CEO Addy Mohammed stressing the importance of continuing to invest in patient-centric measures, programmes, and talent, while adding more clinical care experience at board level.

Addy Mohammed said: “These senior appointments demonstrate our absolute commitment to clinical rigour and patient care, and our desire to always be one of the most reputable and trustworthy online healthcare providers against a backdrop of challenging market dynamics.  The combination of Bev’s deep experience in customer-centricity and Abdal’s focus on clinical strategy will deliver a step change in online patient experience, maintaining the highest standards of safety and effectiveness as we continue to scale at speed.”

In June, Simple Online announced it was launching in Denmark, its third international market, while more than tripling revenue to £66 million in the last financial year.

Co-founded by CEO Addy Mohammed and Karim Nassar in 2015, Simple Online has been built on the pair’s previous experience of owning and operating community pharmacies across Scotland, and offers consumers a convenient patient-first pharmacy service with medications delivered directly at home, supported by regulated digital clinics.

Simple Online continues to invest in its technology platform and is also planning further international expansion and additional hires.

Addy Mohmmed said: “We utilise technology to give patients quick and discreet access to the care they need, at a much lower cost than traditional healthcare models.  Combining technology with a multi-disciplinary team of health professionals, we can provide that level of personalised care you might expect from a local community pharmacy.”

With Simple Online set to double revenue in the current year and the company marking its 10th anniversary in April, Addy Mohammed said: “We are now in full scale-up mode, investing across geographies, supply chains, technology, and talent.  Digital healthcare continues to evolve rapidly, but our focus remains the same, namely to enhance the patient journey and deliver best-in-class care.”

In 2024, the company was named as one of the fastest growing businesses in Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) in Deloitte’s Fast 500.
