New Edinburgh partner for Blackadders

LEADING Scottish Dispute Resolution specialist Fiona Muirs has joined Blackadders LLP.

Fiona will be leading Blackadders’ Dispute Resolution team and will be based in the firm’s Edinburgh office. Previously a partner at Balfour Manson, Fiona brings with her a huge amount of experience after spending 25 years working in dispute resolution.

Fiona said: “I’m delighted to be joining Blackadders at such an exciting time for the firm. There is a real sense of ambition and focus on growing for the future among the team, so I am looking forward to getting started!”

After qualifying as a solicitor in 1998, Fiona became a Solicitor Advocate in 2009. During her time at Balfour Manson, she advised and acted for clients in resolving and litigating disputes in regulatory tribunals, Sheriff Court, Sheriff Appeal Court, Court of Session and the United Kingdom Supreme Court. She has also successfully represented clients in alternative dispute resolution methods such as mediation.

Fiona takes over Dispute Resolution from Joint Managing Partner, Ryan McKay, who has stepped back from leading the unit to concentrate on managing the firm with Joint Managing Partner, Emma Gray.

Mr McKay, Joint Managing Partner, said: “This is an exciting appointment for Blackadders. We are delighted to be able to bring a partner with the quality and experience of Fiona to the firm. She will be a real asset to the team and we look forward to working together to build on the success of our Dispute Resolution team.

Fiona is accredited by the Law Society of Scotland as a Specialist in Regulation of Professional Conduct and is a committee member of the Association of Regulatory and Disciplinary Lawyers (ARDL).

She is also a Legally Qualified Chair Member of the Scottish Social Services Council Fitness to Practise Panel.
