Law firm gunnercooke appoints 20 new partners

LEADING international law firm gunnercooke has continued its recruitment drive over the spring, welcoming 20 new partners since the start of 2023 across areas including Crypto, Real Estate and Technology.  

The team in Scotland continues to go from strength to strength with the hire of Employment and Discrimination lawyer Katy Wedderburn and dual qualified Corporate Partner Alex Innes, who can practice in England, Wales and Scotland.  

Hires include additions to the ever-growing FinTech and Crypto team, including Will Foulkes as a Blockchain Partner and Gareth Malna as a Fintech Partner. Their appointments give gunnercooke the biggest Crypto legal team in the country. Steven Strassheim also joins the firm as a Technology Partner, with experience as both an engineer and lawyer.  

The Real Estate has seen significant growth, with hires including Sloan Kelly, Dawn Staal, James Singleton, Robin Staal and Amanda Hodgson. The team also saw the hire of Katie Hawksworth, who joins from Eversheds Sutherland.  

Joining the Banking & Finance team are Marcus Jamson in London, and Matthew Harvey joining from Gowling WLG as a Banking Partner.  

The London office welcomes Robert Wieder, Kenneth Awoonor-Renner and Sarah Miles, who are all Corporate Partners. Luiz Costa joins the London office as Dispute Resolution Partners, and Ignacio Morillas as an Employment Partner.  

gunnercooke also welcomed 16 people at non-Partner levels, including associates, paralegals and trainees. Jas Rai also joins the firm’s management consultancy practice, gunnercooke Operating Partners.
