Founded and developed by Anne MacDonald (member of the Institute of Hospitality), The Old Manse of Blair in Blair Atholl has evolved over the past decade from a lovingly restored 19th-century manse into one of Scotland’s most highly regarded rural hospitality businesses.
Today, it employs over 15 staff and attracts an international guest list ranging from celebrities, international royals to corporate groups, young professionals, families and leisure travellers seeking a luxurious destination retreat in the Highlands.
From its origins as a boutique hotel, The Old Manse of Blair has expanded across a ten-acre estate, with a luxurious collection of accommodation in the historic mansion house, stylish stable conversions, a renovated railway cottage, and walled-garden rooms.
Representing contemporary Scotland at its best – authentic, luxurious and rooted in provenance – the Estates’ business achievement was marked by a visit from Scotland’s First Minister, John Swinney, who (last Thursday) met with Anne and her team to discuss the opportunities and challenges facing rural enterprises and entrepreneurship. Discussions centred on critical issues including staff recruitment and retention, housing and transportation, sustainable investment, and the impact of upcoming policy changes including the visitor levy, all of which will impact on growth in the current economic climate.

Recognition from the Michelin Guide, alongside being named one of The Sunday Times’ top UK hotels, has cemented The Old Manse of Blair’s reputation as a leading gourmet and hospitality destination.
