A leading industrial automation specialist, iconsys, has opened its first office in Scotland, aiming to boost productivity, operational efficiency, and sustainable performance for its clients.
The new facility at Regus Eurocentral in Lanarkshire marks a significant expansion for the company, which has seen a £5m increase in sales and reached a turnover of £14.5m by the end of its 2024 financial year.
Chris McComb has been appointed to head the Scottish operation, bringing a proven track record in delivering technology solutions to various industries.
The expansion is expected to attract new engineering talent and increase the company’s market share in Scotland.
Nick Darrall, Managing Director of iconsys, stated, “Companies across all markets are switching on to the many benefits our control and automated solutions can provide, in terms of improved safety, reliability, efficiency, reducing obsolescence risk and transitioning to net zero.
“This is translating into a massive growth opportunity for our business.”
The new office, strategically located between Edinburgh and Glasgow, offers greater flexibility for Northern clients and enhances the experience for staff in Lanarkshire.
The company is also recruiting 15 more engineers and support staff to join its current workforce of 81 people.
Recent strategic decisions, such as developing a £3m smart factory in Telford and creating an internal training academy, have laid the foundations for iconsys’ next growth phase.
The company has also secured a £1.7m grant from the Department for Transport to develop innovative technology for decarbonising the maritime sector in collaboration with WMG – University of Warwick and CEMEX.
Nick Darrall added, “Our smart shore system solution is containerised and fits seamlessly into various real estate sizes. It offers many advantages to the maritime sector and beyond, including cost savings, significant CO2 emission reduction, on-demand power, operational efficiency, and energy-efficient storage.
“This project positions us as one of the pioneering innovators in maritime and will deliver more £multi-million revenue projects.”
