HAMILTON Robertson Insurance Brokers (HRIB) has been acquired by JMG Group company Greenwood Moreland in an investment that will support HRIB’s future growth across the UK.

With offices in Glasgow and London, and a specialist motor insurance division – C&A Mackie Insurance Brokers – HRIB operates out of two branch offices and employs 25 people. The acquisition adds £15m of gross written premium to Greenwood Moreland, increasing the company’s total headcount to over 100 people across seven offices, controlling GWP of more than £40m.

HRIB owner Graeme Robertson and his senior team, Graeme Brown and Jack Dalton, will continue to lead the business as they pursue significant growth across each of their three trading divisions: Hamilton Robertson Insurance Brokers, C&A Mackie Insurance Brokers and HRIB London.

Graeme says, “This is great news for our business, clients and staff. It secures an amazing future by plugging into the resources and investment secured through Greenwood Moreland and JMG Group. Thank you to Andy Weir and the Greenwood Moreland team, as well as JMG Group and their advisors, for making the whole process clear and fair.”

He says it will be ‘business as usual’ for HRIB clients going forward. “The people and offices our clients currently deal with will continue as before. My own personal focus will be on helping others in the insurance industry build their futures, continuing to work hard with new and existing clients, and supporting the accelerated growth of HRIB throughout the UK.”

Greenwood Moreland MD Andy Weir says the HRIB team and systems will be integrated with JMG Group over the coming months, and they will be closely supported by their new colleagues at Greenwood Moreland as they move through each stage of integration.

“This acquisition will add to our established presence in Scotland as well as bringing a platform for dynamic growth across the UK,” he says. “Along with their many loyal and long-standing client relationships, Graeme and his team possess a wealth of knowledge and experience combined with an impressive track record of growth – all of which will strengthen the proposition across our business in the years ahead.

“I’m delighted that Graeme and his team have trusted Greenwood Moreland and JMG with the future of their business and we are excited to get started with this next chapter.”

The HRIB team was advised by John Blair and his team at Consilium Chartered Accountants, and Stephanie Farrell and her team at Bellweather Green Solicitors. Greenwood Moreland was advised by James Whittaker at Hazelwoods LLP and Michael Kelly and his team at MFMac Solicitors.
