Port of Aberdeen has appointed Jennifer Heiton as Chief Financial Officer, effective 11 May 2026, signalling a clear intent to accelerate its strategic ambitions as Scotland’s largest berthage facility.

Heiton brings 23 years of experience across corporate financial advisory and senior CFO roles, most recently at EV charging infrastructure firm Trojan Energy Limited, where she led investment securing, process improvement, and commercial development. Before that, she served as CFO at Ardyne Technologies Ltd, steering the well abandonment specialist through to its acquisition by Weatherford International plc — a strong indicator of her ability to deliver value at critical business inflection points.

The appointment comes at a pivotal moment for the port. Having completed its landmark £420 million Aberdeen South Harbour development, the organisation is now focused on consolidating and diversifying revenues, advancing its energy transition programme, and working toward its target of becoming the UK’s first net zero port by 2040.

Chair Roy Buchan described the hire as well-timed: “Jennifer joins Port of Aberdeen at an important moment for the organisation. Her strategic financial expertise will be crucial as we work with stakeholders to consolidate and diversify our business, drive energy transition, and create prosperity for generations.”

CEO Bob Sanguinetti added: “We are delighted to welcome Jennifer to the port team. She brings a wealth of experience in financial leadership, a strong record of delivering results and will be a real asset to the organisation.”

Heiton herself signalled a focus on both growth and fiscal rigour: “I am delighted to join the Port of Aberdeen at this pivotal time. I look forward to working with the team to deliver sustainable growth, delivery of its ambitious net zero targets, and supporting the Port’s long-term development while maintaining strong financial discipline.”

As an Executive Director on the Board, the CFO role carries broad operational responsibility beyond finance, covering technology, property management, legal, procurement, and supply chain. Heiton succeeds Jon Oakey, who retires after seven years with the port. Founded in 1136, Port of Aberdeen is the UK’s oldest existing business.

The £420 million Aberdeen South Harbour development — one of Scotland’s most significant port infrastructure investments in recent memory — has positioned Port of Aberdeen as the country’s largest berthage facility. The port, which traces its roots back to 1136 making it the UK’s oldest existing business, operates as a Trust Port serving energy, cargo, cruise and ferry customers. It’s also working toward what would be a landmark achievement: becoming the UK’s first net zero port by 2040.
