The Edinburgh Boiler Company (EBC) is hoping for a triple success after being nominated in three
categories at the prestigious H&V News Awards 2024.
The heating and renewables specialist has been shortlisted for Contractor of the Year after enjoying
strong growth in turnover and customers over the past 12 months since expanding from installing
traditional boilers to a suite of low-carbon and renewable technologies.
It is also in the running for the Small Company Achievement Award after securing collaborations with
Home Energy Scotland (funded by the Scottish Government) and Warmworks (funded by the Energy
Saving Trust, Changeworks and Everwarm), which have enabled the majority of customers to offset
their installation costs.
Last year saw EBC embark on its most significant growth strategy to date, investing a record amount
to diversify its services from gas heating to also include cutting-edge low-carbon solutions such as air
source heat pumps, infrared panel heating, solar photovoltaics (PV), battery storage and electric
vehicle (EV) charging facilities.
It has enabled customers to collectively reduce their annual carbon emissions by 230 tonnes (the
same amount of carbon that’s produced by a car driving 1 million miles!), the success of the switch in
focus reflected in the company’s nomination in the category Low Carbon Impact: Residential or
Public Sector.
Throughout its expansion, EBC has maintained an exemplary commitment to safety, resulting in zero
RIDDOR-reportable accidents and reflecting on the string of nominations, managing director Dougie
Bell said: “This recognition highlights our commitment to excellence, sustainability and innovation in
everything we do.
“Preparing submissions for the awards was an amazing experience, giving us the opportunity to look
back on all the milestones and projects we have had the privilege to work on.
“This would not have been possible without the ongoing support of our amazing team and loyal
clients. Good luck to all the finalists on what promises to be an exciting day for everyone involved.”
The winners will be announced in London towards the end of November.
