Bella & Duke celebrates continued growth with recruitment drive

20/12/2023

ROSYTH-based pet food and wellbeing company, Bella & Duke, is celebrating after a record-breaking year as the UK’s leading subscription raw pet food company. As well as a number of recent award wins, significant investment in machinery at its production and fulfillment facility and continued growth has seen the team expand to 133 employees, with several roles now available to join the growing team.

This year, Bella & Duke has delivered over 15 million of its meals across the UK.

As part of Bella & Duke’s vision of doing right by our pets, this year they have continued to support Therapy Dogs Nationwide to support the incredible work that they do and the dogs that help them do it, including sponsoring four hero therapy dogs with full Bella & Duke dog food subscriptions to keep them fuelled up and doing the best job they can. Bella & Duke also pledged to provide 11-year-old Springer Spaniel Dudley a lifetime supply of food following being saved by Second Chance Rescue after a life of neglect and abuse.

Following the growth, Mark Scott and Tony Ottley, founders of Bella & Duke, were named among the Most Ambitious Business Leaders in the UK, as one of just five businesses in Scotland named in the 2023 LDC Top 50 list. Bella & Duke were also named in the first ever 2023 Scotland Fast Growth 50 index, marking the pet wellbeing company as one of the fastest growing businesses in Scotland.

Bella & Duke were also named Manufacturer of the Year 2023 at the recent Pet Industry Federation Awards 2023. The industry awards recognise and celebrate excellence within the pet industry, showcasing the remarkable individuals and businesses who uphold the highest standards of quality that drive the industry forward. The business was also shortlisted for several other awards including new product of the year for their innovative meal topper, Magic sprinkles, and marketing campaign of the year for their Misconceptions campaign that challenged long held misconceptions about our pets and the food we feed them.

Another landmark moment for Bella & Duke this year saw the pet food and wellbeing company make their first steps into retail through a considered test with Pets at Home, being available in 25 stores.

Following the continued growth, the trailblazing pet wellness company is on the hunt for people who are passionate about animals to help Bella & Duke on its mission to improve pet nutrition and help pets live the healthy, happy and long lives they deserve. Bella & Duke is currently recruiting across engineering, marketing, and customer service, for several roles including Maintenance Engineers, Head of Customer Success, and a Marketing Executive, with more roles going live in the near future.

Office based roles will be based in Bella & Duke’s state-of-the-art Rosyth office, which opened last year and is tailored to meet the needs of both its staff and their pets. Offering flexible working options, “Parklife” is a place the team can bring their closest furry companions and be assured that they’re in the UK’s most pet friendly office.

This year, Bella & Duke also unveiled a brand refresh to better articulate their pet-centred ethos and vision of championing pet health and wellbeing and challenging the status quo so that pet-centred, species-appropriate nutrition becomes the natural choice for every pet owner.

2023 has also seen several new product launches from Bella & Duke, including Magic Sprinkles, a premium topper for dog and cat food that’s not only a tasty treat but designed to help even the fussiest of pets finish every morsel of their meals, and a new cat food product to add to their existing range of species-appropriate raw pet food.

Mark Scott, CEO at Bella & Duke, said: “We’ve always understood the importance of the relationship between pets and their owners, and this has been key to our success. Since starting Bella & Duke with Tony back in 2016 it has been a long but incredibly rewarding experience seeing our vision grow year on year, and 2023 has been no different. Our success wouldn’t be possible without the hard work all our team do each day to help us on our mission. This also wouldn’t be possible without our subscribers that have supported us throughout our journey. We want to do right by our pets and give them the healthy, happy, and long lives they deserve, and we love hearing stories from our loyal community sharing the stories of their pets’ since feeding raw. 2024 is already shaping up to be incredibly exciting for us and I can’t wait to see what it brings.”
