Two senior appointments join firm’s London commercial and residential teams

Shepherd, the Scottish chartered surveyors, is expanding its presence in England with the opening of a new office in Mayfair and an increased focus on London’s commercial and residential property markets. The firm said the move marks a new chapter in its English growth strategy, bringing together its established London team with additional senior expertise in commercial agency and residential valuations.

The office, based at 12 Bolton Street, Mayfair, will be home to commercial agency partner Adam Honeyman, who has relocated from Glasgow to develop Shepherd’s commercial agency offering in London, and Michael-John Henretty, who returns to the firm to lead its residential valuation services in the capital. The expansion builds on the foundations established by existing London partners Tom Higgins and Krishan Patel, who the firm said have played a central role in developing its English operation and its commercial property management and consultancy services.

Shepherd said the four partners will spearhead the next phase of growth, combining established relationships and local market expertise with the resources, reputation and experience of the firm. Established in 1880, Shepherd said its continued investment in London reflects its ambition to establish a strong position in the English property market, offering clients access to a broader range of specialist services through its expanding national network.

Ian Fergusson, Senior Partner at Shepherd Chartered Surveyors, said: “Shepherd has built a strong foundation in England thanks to the work of Tom Higgins, Krishan Patel and the wider team. Our continued investment in London, bringing together their experience with the expertise of Adam and Michael-John, reflects the increasing demand we are seeing from clients operating across London and the wider property market. Our ambition is to build on those foundations and establish an even stronger presence in one of the UK’s most important property markets.”

Honeyman joined Shepherd in 2016 and became a partner in 2023, having played a role in developing the firm’s commercial agency business across Glasgow and the West of Scotland. “This is an exciting opportunity to expand Shepherd’s commercial offering within one of the UK’s most dynamic property markets,” he said. “We have quickly developed a strong pipeline of instructions and an excellent base of clients, and I am already enjoying working alongside Michael-John, Tom and Krishan to build on that success, strengthen client relationships and continue delivering exceptional service across London and the wider southern market.”

Henretty brings more than 15 years of experience in the London residential property market, including senior roles with Carter Jonas and Cushman & Wakefield. His expertise spans residential valuations, with particular experience of prime and super-prime properties, complex assets and specialist valuation advice, and his appointment strengthens Shepherd’s offering to private clients, lenders, investors and professional advisers across London and the Southeast.

“I am delighted to be returning to Shepherd at such an exciting time for the business. Establishing a new permanent central London office represents a major step forward for the firm and creates a strong platform from which to serve both existing and new clients,” he said. “Having spent the past 15 years advising across the Central London residential market, I look forward to leveraging that experience to grow our presence in the capital and deliver the high-quality advice and personal service for which Shepherd is known.”

The firm said it is also exploring opportunities to expand its team further as it develops its presence in the capital. The strengthened London operation will support Shepherd’s wider English business, providing a platform for further development across commercial agency, residential valuations, property management and consultancy.
