Edinburgh used-car retailer Cars4You has stopped trading and all 26 employees have been made redundant, the Edinburgh Reporter has reported. The company operated branches across Central Scotland and had traded for ten years.

An appointment notice published in the Edinburgh Gazette on 9 October confirms that George Dylan Lafferty of BTG Begbies Traynor (Central) LLP was appointed administrator on 2 October 2026. The notice lists the company’s registered office and principal trading address at Unit 2, 26 Bankhead Drive, Edinburgh.

The Edinburgh Reporter’s account, published on 13 October, reports cash-flow difficulties at the business. However, the reasons for its failure are still to be examined by the administrator.

Thomas McKay, managing partner of BTG Begbies Traynor in Scotland and Northern Ireland, said, as reported by the Edinburgh Reporter: “Having only recently been appointed we will be looking in detail and in due course we will be making a report to creditors about the reasons for, and circumstances of the failure in this particular case.”

In further comments carried by the Reporter, he said: “At this point in the process we can confirm that sadly, all 26 employees have been made redundant, and we have been working closely with those affected to help them access the support and financial entitlements available to them, including assistance from Partnership Action for Continuing Employment (PACE) and the Redundancy Payments Service.

“Our priority is to ensure the employees receive the guidance and advice they need during this process, and also to maximise the return from the sale of assets including vehicle stock to benefit the creditors.”
