Frazer Wallace of The THEHAUSSTUDIO in Dundee is celebrating a significant achievement after being named Scottish Hairdresser of the Year at HJ’s British Hairdressing Awards 2024, sponsored by Schwarzkopf Professional. This marks Frazer’s first win in what is widely regarded as one of the most fiercely contested categories in the industry.
The event, held on Monday, November 25th, at the JW Marriott Grosvenor House on Park Lane, London, celebrated its 40th anniversary this year. Over 1,400 guests walked the red carpet to honour the UK’s top hairdressing talent. The evening featured ten regional categories, eight specialist awards, and the coveted title of British Hairdresser of the Year.
Frazer triumphed over five other finalists to claim the Scottish title. His winning entry, a photographic collection showcasing his extensive hairdressing expertise, impressed a 100-plus-strong judging panel. The judging process is conducted anonymously and adheres to strict guidelines to ensure authenticity and fairness.
Speaking after his win, Frazer shared his excitement and gratitude:
“I just want to say, there are so many incredible mentors in this room. I’ve dreamed about this since I was 17, and I can’t believe I’ve actually won it. Coming from a really small town in Scotland, I’ve worked so hard to get here. I want to promise anyone else out there—if you work hard, you can achieve this too.”
Jayne Lewis-Orr, Executive Director of HJ’s British Hairdressing Awards, praised Frazer’s accomplishment:
“The prestige of securing this title cannot be overstated – the Scottish Hairdressing title always has such hot and super-talented competition vying for it from across Scotland, and Frazer deserves to be celebrated. Four decades since its inception, HJ’s British Hairdressing Awards remain the most sought-after industry accolade. It is a privilege to honour Frazer with this title.”
Schwarzkopf Professional, the event’s sole sponsor since its inception in 1984, reflected on the milestone. Julian Crane, General Manager for Henkel Consumer Brands Hair Professional UK & Ireland, said:
“Forty years on, the British hairdressing industry remains as influential and creative as ever, with artists that continue to push boundaries and raise the bar. Schwarzkopf Professional is privileged to have supported this groundbreaking event for the last four decades and will continue to celebrate the exceptional talent this industry has to offer. Huge congratulations, not only to this evening’s winners but to everyone who has contributed to the powerhouse that is Great British hairdressing.”
