Scottish Women in Business appoints new President

SCOTTISH Women in Business has announced its new committee members including the appointment of Sarah Heaney as its new President.  

Sarah Heaney of Glasgow Chamber of Commerce, was previously Vice President to the departing Bayile Adeoti, who steps down following the end of her term.   

Heather Offord of Clarity Consultants, will be stepping up to the role of Vice President and will be supported by the following committee members all appointed at the organisation annual general meeting:

  • Laurie Macpherson of Laurie Macpherson 
  • Clare Baillie of Star Consultancy 
  • Natalie O’Hare of Beyond HR 
  • Lynn Gibb of RBC Brewin Dolphin 
  • Gemma Carpenter of University of Strathclyde 
  • Ibiyemi Omeihe of University of the West of Scotland 
  • Lora Barclay of Waterstons  
  • Emma McIntyre of Limeside Creative Ltd 
  • Stephanie Ebner, financial advisor 

The new committee will enable the organisation to capitalise on the growth of the network and support to its membership through events, networking and career development opportunities.  

Scottish Women in Business exist to offer inclusive spaces for women to Communicate, Connect, Collaborate with other professionals. It is a network created to inspire and development women across a huge range of sectors across Scotland.  

Speaking upon her appointment of AGM, Sarah said: 

“Equity, diversity and inclusion does not just happen because it is the right thing to do, it needs consistent work and SWIB has been at the forefront of championing women across Scotland. 

“In a week, where Claudia Goldin was awarded the Nobel Economics Prize for her work on Women’s employment and pay, only the 3rd women to receive the prize and the first not to share the award with male colleagues, we certainly aren’t there yet. 

“I am honoured to be appointed as President and will be working with our incredible network to be an ambassador for entrepreneurship, equality and business growth for our amazing membership of women.”
