A LEADING independent Scottish legal firm has further strengthened its growing Private Client team with the appointment of a new Director.

Doran Mitchell has joined Lindsays as its work with people across the full spectrum of personal legal affairs continues to expand, with the number of its lawyers working in that area at an all-time high.

The range of services offered to people and their families is a key area of expansion for the firm following both its merger with the former Miller Hendry partnership a year ago – with its lawyers in Perthshire and Dundee joining the Lindsays family – and other organic growth.

Doran – who advises on a wide range of issues, including Wills, Trusts, Executries, succession planning and inheritance tax – is based in Edinburgh.

He said: “Lindsays, through its culture, expertise, reputation for quality advice and independent status, feels like the ideal fit for me. I am delighted to get started.

“The changing dynamics of family and business life – along with the pressures caused by the rising cost of living – have placed sharp focus on the need for good legal advice when it comes to managing our personal affairs and ensuring they are in order. This is an area of law which has a very real impact on individuals and those closest to them, personally and, potentially, professionally. The team at Lindsays get that.

“The most enjoyable part of my job is building relationships with clients and becoming their trusted advisor. I am looking forward to the opportunities I will now have to develop that further.”

Doran, who is also a Notary Public, joins Lindsays from Gillespie Macandrew, where he was an Associate.

His arrival takes the size of Lindsays’ Private Client team to 67 – that number having increased by more than 60% in the past year.

Grant Johnson, Partner and Head of Private Client at Lindsays, said: “I am delighted to have Doran on-board as our work continues to grow.

“His expertise and approachable style is very much in tune with our ethos. His reputation for building positive relationships which add security and support for people at key moments in their life fits perfectly with our team’s work.”

Lindsays also has offices in Glasgow, Dundee, Perth and Crieff.
