EMMA Soanes, Chief Executive of Young Enterprise Scotland, has been nominated for ‘Not for Profit CEO of the Year’ in the Scottish Women’s Awards 2023.
Organised by Oceanic Events and now in their fifth year, the awards celebrate and recognise the achievements and contributions of women across the country in a variety of sectors, including business, arts, academia, charity and technology.
Nominated in the ‘Not For Profit CEO of the Year’ category, Emma Soanes, who took up the Chief Executive role with Young Enterprise Scotland in October 2022 after a thirty-year career in the caring and third sectors, is one of ten female finalists who are driving positive change.
Young Enterprise Scotland works with young people in primary, secondary and tertiary education, providing a wide variety of programmes and development opportunities. They also work with budding entrepreneurs, nurturing business ideas and supporting young people to bring their ideas to life, whilst developing skills and achieving their goals.
Since taking the helm at YE Scotland, Emma has focused on increasing the charity’s reach across schools and colleges to meet the increasing demand for enterprise learning and financial education across the country. In the last academic year, YE Scotland reported a 91% increase in the number of young people accessing its enterprise learning programmes, driven by the organisations expanding financial education programme.
Sharing her pride at being nominated for the awards, Emma said:
”I am delighted and honored to have been nominated for the Scottish Women’s Awards alongside so many inspirational and innovative women, and I am looking forward to spending an evening celebrating all their fantastic achievements.
“I am passionate about the work we do at Young Enterprise Scotland and am so proud of our team who work every day to support young people across the country to reach their full potential.”
