Waverton continues strategic growth with Scottish team hires

Roger Haxton

WAVERTON Investment Management has announced four new appointments in their Glasgow office as the firm continues to grow its presence in Scotland.

The team, led by Graeme Brock and Roger Haxton, arrive from Evelyn Partners where they were both Partners. They are joined by Lauren Craig and Charlotte Ayre.

This clutch of hires reflects the continued growth of the Waverton business and its commitment to further enhance its offering in Scotland. Waverton opened its Scottish office in 2021 following the acquisition of Cornerstone Asset Management, since rebranded as Waverton Wealth.

Graeme and Roger join Waverton as Portfolio Managers and Directors. They will be responsible for a range of clients, primarily UK-based private clients and families, with portfolios ranging from individual accounts and ISAs to SIPPs, Trusts, charities and corporate accounts.

Graeme and Roger have worked together for almost three decades, having begun their careers at Greig Middleton (now Barclays Wealth) in 1996. In 2005 Roger moved to Smith & Williamson (Graeme followed in early 2006), which became Evelyn Partners last year. Graeme was one of the founding directors of the firm’s Glasgow office and was recognized by Citywire as one of Scotland’s top 20 wealth managers.

Both bring with them a vast network of regional contacts and advisers and expect to develop these relationships to support clients as part of their new roles at Waverton.

Lauren Craig joins the team as a Portfolio Manager focusing on running portfolios as well as managing client relationships. She began her career with Quilter Cheviot in London before joining the Private Client team at Evelyn Partners (then Smith & Williamson) in Glasgow in 2019. Lauren is a Member of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment (CISI).

Charlotte Ayre completes the team of four as the Team Assistant.

Nick Tucker, CEO at Waverton comments: “Continuing to grow our business north of the border is a core part of our strategy and I am delighted to welcome Graeme, Roger, Lauren and Charlotte to Waverton. I am thrilled that we have secured them given the network they have and the experience they bring to really boost our Scottish presence. Offering an integrated wealth and investment service is key to how we look after clients, as we help them structure and grow their wealth over time. In addition, our reputation amongst introducers such as lawyers, accountants and investment consultants is expanding all the time and this series of appointments demonstrates our commitment to the region and our clients.”

Graeme Brock adds: “I am sure I speak for the whole team when I say joining Waverton is an exciting move for us all. We see this as a chance to provide clients with a strong investment proposition alongside the known benefits of sound wealth planning. Waverton is certainly a firm on the move and the time feels right to be a part of their exciting story in Scotland.”
