Future industry leaders were recognised for green energy achievements as Awards celebrates its 10th anniversary at an event in Glasgow

Ten up-and-coming green energy stars were honoured last night (April 18) at the tenth Young Professionals Green Energy Awards

The Young Professionals Green Energy Awards, launched in 2015 by Scottish Renewables, the industry body for Scotland’s renewable energy industry, recognises those who have achieved beyond all expectations, those who are pioneering new ideas and have the drive and ambition to change the industry for the better.

Winners this year include:

Roberto Tuda from Waves Group who scooped the Innovator Award for his expertise in hydrogen technology which has spearheaded the integration of hydrogen fuel cells as a clean energy source for Crew Transfer Vessels.
Emma McGregor from Tony Gee and Partners LLP took home the Engineer Award for her work designing a floating Sandwater Road Embankment which was integral to the delivery of the 103-turbine Viking wind farm project.
Yabin Liu from The University of Edinburgh was the winner of the Academic Award for his research into the noise and impact on power production caused by vortexes created by hydropower, tidal and wind turbine blades.
The winners were selected from a shortlist of 36.

Claire Mack, Chief Executive of Scottish Renewables, said:

“The Young Professionals Green Energy Awards has once again brought the renewables industry together to recognise the contributions being made by its future leaders.

“Each year the standard of talent showcased by all of our shortlisted entrants never ceases to impress.

“The skills, professionalism and passion shown by tonight’s winners demonstrate a commitment to their careers and I strongly encourage them to maintain this determination as they grow, develop and shape the future of the renewable energy industry.

“These awards are always a truly special evening but tonight I’m absolutely delighted that we are also able to celebrate the tenth anniversary of this event. It is testament to our thriving industry that we have reached such a significant milestone and it has been a privilege for everyone at Scottish Renewables to watch such a wealth of talent make such great strides in the industry over the last decade. Here’s to the next ten years.”

The winners of this year’s Young Professionals Green Energy Awards will go on to compete for the Young and Inspiring Award at The Scottish Green Energy Awards, which will be held in Edinburgh on December 5.
