EAST-KILBRIDE based skin-tech company Cutitronics has appointed a country sales manager in Paris as it targets clients in one of the world’s top beauty products markets.

Virginie Darteyre was previously Fruit of the Loom’s country manager for France and Benelux and has more than 15 years’ experience of the fashion industry with brands such as Firetrap and Guess.

Her appointment is one several recent senior appointments for the company, including former Chris Freel, who moved from Dyson to become senior mechanical project engineer; Louise Macpherson from Cake Decor, who is now client relationship manager; and Mandy Smith-Barr, who joined from pharma and vaping firm Systech as senior project manager.

Cutitronics’ devices and software analyse skin condition in real time, enabling personalised advice based on the individual and their environment to determine how best to use products.

One of its latest prototypes is a hand-held sensor which can be used at home and is designed to help customers when they can’t access beauty counter professionals.

Cutitronics chose Paris as the base for its European sales operation for its history as the birthplace of global brands such as Chanel and L’Oreal.

Virginie said: “It has never been more important for beauty brands to incorporate new technological solutions into their strategies to meet the challenges presented by the pandemic.

“Beauty counters will be unable to operate as before, and spas and salons must overhaul their processes and systems to survive.

“The potential of these technologies to support independent and corporate brands is unprecedented. Demand for this is only going to increase as consumers change the way they interact with skincare, and brands look to find new ways to engage with consumers.

“I’m looking forward to taking this innovative technology into my home market of France.”

Dr David Heath, founder and CEO of Cutitronics, said: “We look forward to being able to support brands with a permanent team member based in Paris who will be able to spearhead enquiries and business opportunities, who understands the market and has a proven track record in driving international sales.”
