A Moray-based landscaping and garden centre business, Threaplands, is expanding its premises, thanks to a six-figure funding deal from Royal Bank of Scotland.
Located one mile east of Lhanbryde village, Threaplands operates a popular garden centre in addition to landscaping services. A brand new building will be constructed next to the existing garden centre, and will feature giftware, garden furniture, a deli and a coffee shop.

The family run business was established 21 years ago by brothers Grant and Scott Higgins, and now employs 22 members of staff, including new Operations Director, Ben Laing. Thanks to the new development, the business will be expanding its team to include catering staff.
Scott Higgins, Director at Threaplands, said: “There’s going to be something for everyone at the new garden centre. Customers will be able to browse our wide range of plants and gardening materials, as well as stop off for a coffee and something to eat.
“A huge amount of work has gone into the development, and I want to thank everyone involved, including Royal Bank of Scotland for its funding. We look forward to opening this summer and welcoming customers, old and new, to our new garden centre.”
Local firms have been brought in to complete the new building, including Wittets Architects, Grant M Smith Building Contractor Ltd., and Simmers Contracts Ltd.
Operations director at Threaplands, Ben Laing, added: “The design and build of the first purpose built garden centre in Moray has been both exciting and challenging. We have embraced green technology throughout the process to make the facility as efficient and environmentally friendly as possible, including rainwater harvesting, biomass powered underfloor heating and solar thermal panels.”

The updated Threaplands Garden Centre is due to open this summer.
