The firm has also headhunted another three payroll professionals for its Glasgow offering, taking headcount to 14. The accountancy firm now has a total of 47 dedicated payroll specialists across its national service line.

Mazars’s Glasgow payroll function was formed four years ago, starting with one person. The team is one of the largest and fastest-growing among the firm’s five payroll centres in the UK with plans to double in size over the next two years.

Michael McAllister, Mazars’s UK payroll manager who runs the team in Glasgow, said: “Our payroll function has grown substantially in relatively short order, with ambitious plans to expand further. Our aim is to be the firm of choice, both domestically and internationally – we work with more than 1,000 companies, managing payroll for everything from sole traders and retailers up to businesses with thousands of people across the world.

“The firm’s investment in technology, including our elev8 offering to SMEs, has helped set us apart from the competition and we’ve also invested heavily in our people. The payroll team has grown to become one of the fastest growing service lines within the firm and, working with HRC Recruitment, we’re hungry for further growth, both organically and through acquisitions.”

Andy Mitchell, managing consultant for payroll and outsourced finance at HRC Recruitment who assisted in the recruitment process, added: “We’re working with some of the most reputable accountancy firms across the UK to find the best payroll talent on the market. The Mazars team in Glasgow is a great example of that in practice and we’re wholly focussed on matching the right people with the right organisations by taking a different and more targeted approach to recruitment. The payroll industry is booming and our payroll recruitment business is growing with it.”
