CUT, a diamond wire cutting specialist based in Aberdeen, has concluded the year with a series of new project awards.
Bruce Sinclair, Business Development Manager, stated: “We are pleased to welcome a new client and will complete diamond wire cutting of jacket piles in the North Sea UK sector using our 40” machine.
“This machine is only 560kgs in air, 40-50kgs in water, has small dimensions, and is very easily manoeuvrable. It’s hugely popular with ROV pilots and divers as it is so user-friendly.”
Another significant award for CUT involves an offshore project in Western Australia, where the company will carry out the cutting of various targets to enable platform removal.
This award underscores CUT’s global reach and, in particular, the demand for proven expertise in this specialised field. CUT was recently named as a finalist for the 2025 Northern Star Business Awards in the “Going Global” category. Additional projects include a pile cutting operation in Singapore and a pipeline cutting job in the Black Sea, among others.
Bruce Sinclair added: “CUT has completed 43 projects this year—a record. Our clients come to us because we are the global experts in our field.
“We have never failed to complete all cuts required on a project, whether that involves 5” mooring chains or 6m diameter riser turret moorings. The vast experience of our operators, combined with the lessons learned during our 40+ year history, is invaluable and a vital part of the CUT success story.
“We have 15 projects already awarded for 2025, and we expect to double that figure in the next two months. We’ll certainly complete projects across six continents next year, and the Western Australia project award is particularly satisfying. The tender process has taken 18 months, but our recent successful projects in Australia helped ensure we secured this one.”
